In the Spring, Sara Pinkerton with Little Tykes Preschool came to Shamra and I to talk about bringing a music class to our families. We were so excited for this opportunity and we gladly said YES! Sara held two 4-day sessions; one in June and one in July. She brought in boom whackers, and other handheld instruments for the participants to use while accompanying songs and stories. They also played a fun game of "red, yellow, green" where the participants got to choose how fast the others played their instruments. During the July session, she added handheld drums, drumming on chairs with boom whackers, guitars one day with the assistance of David Garza, and the parachute - always a favorite activity. At the final meeting, parents and participants alike played instruments and did some dancing. This music class was a fun addition to our summer calendar, and the participants really had a great time and learned many things about music and instruments. Sara was so fun and willing to adjust to the needs of the participants and we are very thankful for her and her heart to bring music to our kids and adults. Please enjoy these pictures. We hope to see you the next time we offer Music Time.
