The Affordable Connectivity Program is an FCC benefit program that helps ensure that households can afford the broadband they need for work, school, healthcare and more. The benefit provides a discount of up to $30 per month toward internet service for eligible households and up to $75 per month for households on qualifying Tribal lands. Eligible households can also receive a one-time discount of up to $100 to purchase a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet from participating providers if they contribute more than $10 and less than $50 toward the purchase price.

Google has just stepped up the accessibility game by introducing an awesome new feature in Chrome – Live Captions! These are literally floating captions within Chrome that will automatically generate real-time captions for audio or video content from websites, apps or ANYTHING. That means videos, seminars, Zoom – you name it, it’s going to be captioned in that floating Chrome box if you have the caption setting enabled. Enabling live captions in Chrome is easy and straightforward.

Walla Walla County Department of Community Health (DCH) seeks to support families with children with special health care needs. In addition to nurse care coordination, DCH has made available funding of up to $9000 per calendar year to offer financial assistance to families for services related to their child’s health care needs.

Assistive technology (AT) includes any device, piece of equipment or product system that is used to increase, maintain, or improve functional capabilities of individuals with disabilities. Assistive technology also includes services that directly assist an individual with a disability in the selection, acquisition, or use of an assistive technology device.

The IMESD provides equipment, software, and technology on a trial basis to assist students with cognitive and physical disabilities. IMESD partners with school districts to find the right tool to help the student be more self-confident, productive, and better integrated into a mainstream lifestyle.
