by Krystal Ceron

Hello WWVDN Families/Supporters. My name is Krystal Ceron. I was born and raised in Portland until 7 years ago when I moved to Walla Walla. I am a mother of six children and a small farm.

I have always had a passion for advocating for underserved populations which lead me into getting a bachelor’s degree in human development and obtaining a career in social work. During my tenure as a social worker I did guardianship, conservatorship, medical and personal case management with the geriatric and mentally disabled population. I have also worked with families who are recovering from homelessness.

After my adventure of working in social work I decided that I wanted to work directly with children when I went to work in Special Education at Walla Walla Public Schools in October of 2015 until recently. During my time at WWPS I was the REACH program teacher and transition teacher. I have become extremely passionate over the years of connecting children, teens, young adults, and their families with the resources they need and advocating for them.

I understand the frustration about navigating the education system, health care system, state/county agencies and our communities not only as an educator or a social worker but also as a mom with a son who has disabilities. This is why I am excited about my new position with Walla Walla County Department of Health as an Outreach and Transition Specialist with the departments of Developmental Disabilities, Maternal Health, and CYSHCN (Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs). I look forward to continuing serving our community in my new position.
